A BODYBUILDER'S DIARY: 7 WEEKS OUT
BY KRISTYN LIA
I have always preferred the physical.
In my opinion the modern world takes us so far from where I feel we should naturally be.
There are so many politics and requirements that come with day to day functioning and many of them seem pointless to me.
The gym is my outlet.
Here I can just feel, I don’t need to impress anyone… I don’t have to be anything here to anyone. I am not constrained by social norms, nor do I have to appease those around me with mundane banter and meaningless exchanges.
Here I am empowered. There is no BS, no pretending and one will judge and label me.
I am addicted.
Addicted to the adrenalin, the endorphins and the rush. I love the burning, breathlessness and pain. I feel empowered, wild and oddly enough the experience is very humanising.
The stress, the anxiety and the frustration are gone. My mind is clear and balanced and I know that things that threatened to break me throughout the day mean nothing. I cannot even remember what they were. And I go home to my love triumphant, at peace and content. There is no more chaos in my world.
